Project Overview

The Smart Mobility Hub is a multimodal transit interchange in Cuttack, redesigned to reduce private vehicle dependency by integrating real-time routing, cycle docking, and pedestrian-priority surface streets.

Why This Matters

When private cars are given priority over buses, cycles, and pedestrians, interchanges become congested and inequitable. Rebalancing that hierarchy makes daily commutes faster, safer, and more sustainable for the majority who do not travel by car.

Current Situation

Cuttack’s central interchange had grown organically into a tangle of competing modes, with auto-rickshaws, buses, cycle-vans, and pedestrians each left with whatever space remained after private vehicles claimed priority.

How We’re Helping

Cars were redirected to a peripheral facility, freeing the surface for a bus concourse, a 300-bike docking station, and a pedestrian plaza, supported by a real-time routing app. Private vehicle entries have fallen 38%, serving 3.2 million daily commuters.
